Booking direct is not just about the price — though the price difference is real and we have covered that in another post. It is also about what you get that platform bookings do not offer. Here is the specific list.
Direct Communication Before, During, and After
When you book with us directly, you get Bill and Heather’s contact information and the expectation that we will respond quickly — because we do. Before your trip, you can ask about the property, the area, what is currently working and what we are still improving. During your stay, you are not navigating a platform’s messaging system to reach us. After, if there is anything to sort out, we handle it like adults.
This is a different experience from platform bookings, where host communication is filtered, logged, and sometimes delayed by platform policies.
No Service Fees
Platform service fees run 14–17% on most vacation rental bookings. On a $2,000 week, that is $280–$340 in fees to the platform for the privilege of finding us there. When you book direct, those fees do not exist. Our rate is our rate.
Flexibility That Platforms Do Not Allow
Platforms lock both hosts and guests into their terms. When you book direct, we can have a real conversation. If you want to arrive slightly early and we can accommodate it, we will. If you have a specific request about the property setup, tell us. If your group size or plans shift slightly, message us — we are people, not an algorithm.
Private Chef Access
We partner with yhangry to offer private chef dining at our properties. You can arrange a chef through them directly, but guests who book direct with us get an honest recommendation about which chefs work well at which properties and which evenings make sense for it. That kind of specific advice does not come from a platform listing.
You Are Supporting a Small Operation
Epic Adventure Vacation Rentals is Bill and Heather. Not a property management company, not a portfolio investor — two people who bought these homes because they wanted to travel well and figured out how to share that with other people. When you book direct, more of what you pay goes back into the properties and less goes to a platform’s marketing budget.
